Additional Third Party Packages

This product includes software developed by The Apache Software Foundation (http://www.apache.org). These softwares are available under the Apache Public License (APL), either version 1.0 or 2.0 of the agreement.

This product uses the BeanShell package for lightweight Java scripting, by Pat Niemeyer and available from BeanShell.org (http://www.beanshell.org). BeanShell is distributed under the Lesser GNU Public License (LGPL).

Using Plover in Commercial Products

The following is a quick summary of using Plover in commercial applications under the terms and conditions of LGPL.
  • A commercial product can use Plover (as a library) without having to become open source under the LGPL. This is the big difference to the GPL, where applications using it must be licensed under the GPL as well.

  • Your application must include a notice, as part of your product documentation, stating that your application uses Plover. You must also provide access to the original Plover source code.

  • During the process of product development, if you make modifications to Plover itself, the modifications (and not the application) have to be sourced back into Plover. Typically, you should contact the Plover project with the modifications, and we then decide whether to incorporate them into Plover, or not.
